3 Core Aluminium Power Cable - FAQs
A 3 core aluminium power cable is used for low-tension three-phase power distribution - for example feeding three-phase motors, factory sub-panels, agricultural feeders, and commercial buildings. In Punjab and Haryana it is commonly used for tube well starters, cold storage units, rice shellers and similar three-phase loads up to 1.1 kV.
Available sizes are 16, 25 and 35 sq.mm per core. Sizing depends on the connected load (kW / HP), the length of the run and the allowable voltage drop. Confirm the correct size with your electrician or project engineer before installation.
The cable is supplied with a PVC outer sheath as per IS 1554 (Part 1) Type ST1 and is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. For direct buried installation, follow standard practice - bury the cable in a sand bed inside a pipe or with a brick / tile cover, and avoid sharp bends. Mechanical protection for outdoor runs is recommended.
The cable is rated for 1.1 kV grade (1100 V) low-tension distribution and is designed for a maximum continuous conductor temperature of 70°C, in line with IS 1554 (Part 1). Short-circuit withstand and current ratings should be checked against the specific size and installation method.
