2 Core Aluminium Power Cable - FAQs
Aluminium cables are commonly used for service connections, sub-mains and longer runs where the cost difference between copper and aluminium becomes significant. For a single phase domestic service connection from the meter to the main switchboard, an aluminium 2 core cable in 6, 10 or 16 sq.mm is a typical and economical choice across Punjab and Haryana.
Common sizes are 2.5, 4, 6, 10, 16 and 25 sq.mm. The right size depends on the load and the run length - for a typical 1–3 kW domestic single phase service connection, 6 or 10 sq.mm aluminium is usually used; for higher loads or longer runs, 16 or 25 sq.mm is preferred. Confirm sizing with your electrician based on the actual load.
Ramros 2 core aluminium cables are manufactured in line with IS 694 and IS 1554 (Part 1) for PVC-insulated cables up to 1.1 kV. Conductors are made from electrical grade aluminium and the insulation is heat-resistant PVC suitable for 70°C continuous operation.
Aluminium cable is mainly used as the service connection cable from the pole or meter into the building, and for sub-main runs. Internal wiring of points, sockets and fans is normally done with copper conductor wires (like Homefit or flexible wire). Always follow your local DISCOM and electrician guidance for the right combination.
