Flat Submersible Pump Cable - FAQs
A flat 3 core construction has a smaller overall thickness, which makes it much easier to lower the cable down a borewell along the delivery pipe. The flat profile also clamps neatly against the pipe with cable ties or tape, reducing the risk of damage during pump installation and removal - a key requirement for tube wells across Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan.
Cable size depends on the motor HP and the depth / length of the run. As a rough guide, 1.5 sq.mm suits up to 1 HP at shallow depth, 2.5 sq.mm for 1.5–2 HP, 4.0 sq.mm for 3 HP, 6.0 sq.mm for 5 HP, and 10 sq.mm for 7.5 HP and longer runs. Always confirm with your pump dealer or electrician based on actual motor rating and depth.
Yes. The PVC insulation is specifically formulated for water-resistant operation and the conductor is fine-stranded copper for flexibility. The cable is designed to remain submerged in borewell water for the operating life of the pump. As good practice, joints inside the borewell should be properly sleeved and waterproofed using a heat-shrink kit.
The conductor is 99.9% pure annealed copper to Class 5, providing both flexibility and reliable current carrying capacity for typical 1100 V grade pump installations.
